The cars on Discovery‘s Cuban Chrome may be antiques, but the show itself is wasting no time moving steadfastly into the future as the first American TV series filmed entirely in Cuba.

American-made cars went from being just another mode of transportation to a valuable commodity after the U.S. placed an embargo on Cuba following the Cuban Revolution in 1959. Since then, the men and women of the country have worked tirelessly to keep the cars functioning – and the thousands of antique American cars on the roads today are a testament to their hard work and ultimate success.

Cuban Chrome follows the members A Lo Cubano Car Club – a group of restorers, mechanics and apprentices who work together to restore old cars and maintain those currently in use. With approximately 60,000 vintage cars in Cuba today, there’s plenty of work to be done!

The series will be simulcast in English on Discovery Channel and in Spanish on Discovery en Español. Check out a sneak peek of the series below, and don’t miss the premiere tonight on Discovery at 9/8c!
